The mission of The Arc Northwest Indiana is to improve the welfare of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. This mission includes the provision of support, training and care through day services, residential programs and social services that help people with all levels of intellectual and developmental disabilities develop skills and abilities that assist their movement toward more integration, independence and happiness.
The mission further includes participation and leadership in local, state and national organizations and the provision of education programs which actively promote understanding and respect of the rights, problems and needs of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

As The Arc affiliate in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties, The Arc Northwest Indiana has achieved the highest accreditation by CARF (formerly the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) with a perfect survey result and is licensed and certified by the Indiana Facilities Council as an Intermediate Care Provider (Nursing Home regulations) for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As an ISO 9001 certified organization, The Arc Northwest Indiana provides continually improving services, adding value to individual lives of people with developmental disabilities.
